In December 2005, Kyocera introduced the FS-1030D monochrome laser printer with an OEM-rated print speed of 23 pages per minute (ppm) and a duty cycle of 25,000 per month.
The FS-1030D printer ships with a 3,600 page starter cartridge. Replacement cartridges are available in a 7,200 page yield version only, and requires a chip for the printer to operate correctly.
Note that there is also an MFP with a similar model name, the Ecosys® FS-1030MFP that utilizes a different toner cartridge and separate drum. The two printers are not compatible, nor their supplies interchangeable.
